When you spread the wealth around is it really good for anyone?
DynaFlowHum asked:
Obama told Joe the Plumber that; “When you spread the wealth around it is good for everyone.” My question is IS IT?

No, it’s not! It’s pathetic that the libs are so jealous of those in this country that have worked hard to make a decent living that they would demand they forfeit their earnings to those who choose not to work hard for it. It just feeds into the selfish nature of some people…”it’s okay because it won’t negatively affect me” is their thinking. Problem with that thinking is that it’s faulty. You over-tax the small businessman and he will find a way to recoup that loss…either by raise in price for his goods or services, lay-off of employees, or moving his business overseas.
to spock - the difference is the government doesn’t just have money to “give away” for free…the American taxpayer eventually pays for any hand-outs. The same cannot be said for your other two scenarios…keep trying to justify the lazy greed of some Americans.
njb444 - I beg you, look into economics 101. The top 5% already pay a huge amount in taxes due to the percentage factor. If you put out a fair tax, all Americans are paying the same amount in accordance with their earnings. Why do the libs feel the government should mandate charitable contributions be forced upon the successful businessman? It is one thing to have bad thoughts and jealousy towards a rich person who is taking away from those less fortunate. But if that rich person is running a successful business and paying his fair share of taxes while employing Americans and paying them a good wage, what is so very wrong with that?

I can’t figure out how me getting a thousand dollar tax rebate is a bad thing

What wealth? We don’t have any jobs!!!!!

the person who is doing the spreading usually has some of it stick to his fingers.
everyone else loses, either financially or emotionally.

More middle class people than poor or rich people. Bad for the rich, but there’s less of us that are rich so we don’t care about them.
Wealth
Christ never intended for us to spread the wealth around.

you are taking one piece of a long conversation completely out of context. i can understand though. its like 15 days till the election so you guys have to get desperate i guess.

Good for people that are too lazy to work. That’s about it.

Bush have been spreading my wealth around for 8 years. I pay an additional $600 a month in property taxes. Do you call this “spreading the wealth”. ?
Taxes is here to stay, I’ve been paying income taxes since i was 16 and i doubt ANY politician is going to stop “spreading my wealth”

Sure it is….That would mean a few less food stamps our taxes wouldn’t have to go for.

its good for the people who cant afford to eat but are being taxed more than people with private jets.
Wealth
No because all those people who think they are going to have more money to spend WONT HAVE A JOB because the businesses can’t afford to hire them.

yes because the rich don’t lose anything and they have to satisfaction of helping your fellow americans which is the whole point of being “patriotic”, and thats soo very important to republicans apparently

NO!! Its bad for this country and the economy is the biggest. Im not sure how Obama thinks “spreading the wealth” will help the economy.

Well if you reduce the tax cuts going to the wealthiest 5% of this country and give the extra tax dollars back to the majority, I don’t see how that is bad. The only difference is instead of spreading wealth to the rich, it is spreading the wealth to the middle class. How is that bad? Really?

negative ghost rider, it’s the Robin Hood effect…take from the rich and give to the poor. If you look at the rich (maybe 5% of the US population) and look at the poor (maybe 20% of the US pop.) how long and for how much can they tax the rich, pretty soon the middle class would be taxed heavily as well, and that’s only good for one group
Wealth
I think most Stalinist’s would agree with Obama.

Absolutely not. This mindset encourages people not to work to their full potential because they can half-ass it and get just as much as the people who bust their butts. In this country everyone should have the opportunity to gain wealth but everyone is not entitled to wealth.

It’s just the tax structure that Obama will change, kinda like what Clinton did and we did great!
This question is getting old too. Do some research.

YES IT IS…Because the wealthiest have NOT paid their fair share in the tax burden represented in our TRILLIONs of dollars worth of NATIONAL DEBT!!!!
I’m a middle income earner…and I’m tired of paying for both the POOR and THE RICH…the poor folks I can sympathize with…the RICH folks are just being GREEDY!

NO.Do you realize when you spread it around it goes to people who are on welfare cause they’re too lazy to get a damn job! I totally disagree with spreading the wealth!!

Well the last time our tax policy had that sort of philosophy we got the longest expansion in history, falling poverty, growing median wages, lowest unemployment in decades and 23 million jobs created.
The Bush, Bush and Reagan administrations cannot boast about a single one of those things.

Mccain also plans to spread the wealth around
he also says he wants to cut taxes for middle class, where will get the money to give to middle class
from his own pocket ? i don’t think so
Therefore its obvious that Mccain too wants to spread the wealth by taxing rich

Get real. There is no politician out there who doesn’t advocate using tax dollars (drawn disproportionately from the well-to-do) to fund programs for the less well off. That is what Medicaid is, veterans benefits, home mortgage tax exemptions, sCHP, student loan programs, unemployment insurance, etc. Much of what government does fits that description.
So, unless McCain is ready to cancel all those programs, let us not pretend that Obama supports “spreading the wealth around” and McCain does not.

From what I have independently studied about Obama’s tax policy- this isn’t the case. I doubt you are the few 1%. Why do you people think that if you make more you shouldn’t pay more taxes? Why do I have to pay a majority of the taxes? My family is lower middle class….so since we aren’t as “successful” or “work as hard” we have to pay more? Not fair! I have worked since I was 15 yrs old. I paid my way thru college…how did I become an elitist, socialist, un american? I pay my f’ing taxes.

Sure it is. Just ask your Prez, Dubya. Remember that Bailout package…? Oh buit I guess thats different. When you steal from the taxpayer and give the the corporation its okay. But when you responsibly take from the taxpayer and redistribute to areas in focus, thats a travesty, right? get real you A $ $ H 0 l_ E

Giving tax cuts to family who make less than $250,000 and singles making less than $200,000 is good…
As for Joe the Plumber, he owes taxes, and he still drives on our streets, which are payed by people who pay taxes… ask Joe… If he thinks paved streets are good.
Ask McCain why he wants to give big oil a 4 billion dollar tax cut, and not give it to those that need it.

Depends on who you’re spreading it to.
Some hardworking person who will use at as a boost to brush up on some skills and get a job— sure, here–take my money!
Some lazy person with a sense of entitlement- they can die off for all I care.
I wouldn’t mind paying taxes if the government really let me decide directly who to give my tax money to. Sadly, this isn’t the case.

Spreading the wealth around is good if you are on the receiving end. It’s not good at all for the rest of us taxpayers making us pay for the bums and people that don’t like to work. What it actually does is make everyone poor.

Some people are not to lazy to get a job. Its just hard getting one and its also hard trying to get a good one with good pay. I do think thats spreading the wealth is good. It means that everyone will have enough money and nobody will have to suffer. I don’t want to take from the rich people, but I still don’t want to see people starve and depressed.
Just think about it, if you hit rock bottom wouldn’t you want some help?

Obama walked down Joe’s street campaigning and Joe decided to ask a fair question. Look at what he, his VP and the media have done to poor Joe, just for asking!
What Obama said to Joe would be the same as asking Michael Phelps to give up a few of his gold medals to someone who doesn’t swim, because they will never have a chance of earning one themselves!
He’s got a lot of nerve !

Any amount of money taken from me already pisses me off especially when I did not give it to them. It is like stealing.
Americans get tired of getting the short end of the stick and having to fight to survive through today’s economy. It is hard enough to keep our own family fed.
When people start taking money from me without my permission - that’s less food and income to pay my bills with.
The poor need to get off their butts and GET A JOB and support themselves for a change.
If I want to give money to someone, I want to do it myself personally, that way I can see that the money was given and why the money was given. I don’t trust the government to make that choice for me.
The government already has too many failed programs.

to address bible thumper..I feel Christ did intend for us to spread the wealth around in talking about how hard it is for the rich to get to heaven, telling the parable of the workers who worked just an hour being paid the same as those who worked all day because it was kind and right to so by he who gave us what we have, be talking about if someone asks for a coat, give him a hat too which means if someone asks for help, generously go beyond even what they asked for as God will reward you so bible thumper is wrong.
Yes, it is good for everyone..those making a quarter million will not be taxed to the same level as those making billions. Those Who had 7 houses like McCain can easily afford to give up one of their houses if it means someone homeless or living in a ghetto might have a slightly better living condition or have food for their kids or not be stressed to the point of suicide for all their debts or have to walk in the freezing cold as they can;t afford gas and so forth.
god expects us to treat others as we wish to be treated..he says love is the most important thing and our highest calling and without love, we have nothing. Storing up treasures in heaven by helping the least among us, is to our benefit as far as our eternal soul and our character which means far more than anm extra house or vacation.
95% of people will be better off and the ones asked to sacrifice a little more are already so very wealthy. the rich rarely send their children to fight our wars..their children do not die on the battlefield not come home mentally ill forever or suffer post dramatic shock or lose their legs..they do not worry at every news report that says a helicopter in Iraq was shut down or collapse tot he floor when they hear their child died and they will never see them again..no it is always the poor..many who enlist to try to get college or cause they have no opportunity at home due to impoverished conditions..=it is the least the rich can o to give to their country’s benefit a little extra in taxes..someday God will show them the person who was able to go to college with a grant cause they gave up some money or the person with no home who got into subsidized housing and got their kids off the street or who did not kill themselves as the debts eased a little sparing their family a lifetime of grief or the person who got to go to a better safer school and reach their potential despite being born into poverty or the veterans who has a better VA hospital to help when they lost a limb or the women able to collect child support from a deadbeat dad cause the child support enforcement programs are not cut as repub did with the reverse robin hood bill or see the senior who was able to get a food program and not have to chose between meds and food. real people will be helped by the few who have been blessed so much with their wealth.
We will all be able to maybe get better roads, fire, police, schools and sop forth. Most Americans support this as we all have an innate sense of injustice..my bible teaches love the poor for you will be judged fit for heaven or hell by how you treat them and to do unto others as you would like them to do to you..the best rich people are those who want to contribute to their country and help others…government programs and tax cuts for the middle class help way more people than any one rich guy could on his own.
Jesus’ words and parables show he supported social justice..he talked about the apostles pooling and sharing all they had..those with more given some of what they had to those with less and all working together to live the most holy lives they could..if Jesus’ the wisest man who ever lived taught this, then I believe it.
People are thinking to much about themselves and their money or those reps without the rich corporations who have no problems cheating and poisoning them, or taking away our jobs via outsourcing and not enough about the vast suffering all around them..shame on you republicans evoking the name of God will ignoring what he taught.
He says on the last day they will say when did we not give you food or shelter or health etc and he will say “whatsoever you did to the least of my brothers, you also did unto me..depart from me..
Hanging onto every penny of your wealth is very costly in the long run.
Wealth
No. And the best way for you to understand this is if you work ? Do you go out and give your neighbor part of your check . The guy who sits home all week and drinks beer ? Of course actually you do through taxs LOL !
